In quarterfinal of 2022 BetVictor Northern Ireland Open, reigning champion Mark Allen defeated Mark Williams by score of 5-4 after a nail-biting encounter. Williams managed an early lead of 2-0 with breaks of 62 and 70 but in reply, Allen scored 77 and 74 break of his own to tie score at 2-2. Later, Allen won fifth and sixth frame to gain 4-2 lead and move within one frame of qualifying for semi-final. Williams held his nerve to win seventh and eighth frame, which helped him to force a decider but Allen’s superb play in last frame allowed the defending champion to secure place in final-four.
Anthony McGill of Scotland advanced to the semifinals by defeating Lyu Haotian in a thrilling matchup in the last eight. Following his victory, McGill will now compete against Zhou Yuelong for a spot in championship match. McGill scored runs of 56, 95, 85, and 112 enroute to 4-3 lead and despite in a tough situation in eighth frame, he broke through to avoid decider frame and win comfortably by score of 5-3. Neil Robertson defeated Mark Selby for the sixth time in a row, winning 5-2 to qualify for semi-final of ongoing BetVictor Northern Ireland Open in Belfast. In the second quarterfinal Friday, Zhou Yuelong overcame a 4-2 deficit to defeat David Gilbert 5-4 and advance towards semi-final stage.
During Saturday’s semi-final clash, Robertson will play against Mark Allen in a best-of-11-frames match as he continues his quest for maiden Northern Ireland Open title. In another semi-final of Saturday, 18th seed Anthony McGill will face-off against 22nd seed Zhou Yuelong.

Prize Money Distribution of 2022 Northern Ireland Open
According to official statement, 2022 Northern Ireland Open champion will get prize money of £80,000, but the runner-up will only receive £35,000. Each semifinalist will get at least £17,500 in cash from the total prize pool of $427,000. Mark Selby and Mark Williams will both receive only £11,000 in prize money after being eliminated in the quarterfinals.
