Quentin Grimes’ sore foot injury has grown into a sad saga as he continues to miss more games including the opener against Memphis.
Preseason Game Misses
Tons of Knicks fans were hoping to see the second-year shooting guard head into the preseason. However, some keen-eyed fans saw Grimes wearing a walking boot in photos of training camp practices.
The team later admitted that Grimes was dealing with a sore foot. The issue didn’t seem serious at first, but Grimes missed the first preseason game. Then, things got serious with questions flying around after he continued to miss two more preseason games.
Brief Appearance On Preseason Finale
Much to the delight of fans Grimes played 16 minutes in the preseason finale last Friday. Despite taking only took two shots and missing both, he played his typical exemplary defense.
Grimes seemed set for a return, but now things are looking different after the recent injury update.
Grimes To Miss Season Opener
As the team gears up for the season opener against the Grizzlies, Grimes will be sitting out the game. The shooting guard has apparently not practiced fully with the team since Friday’s game.
Which has led to many fans asking why Grimes even played last Friday if the foot wasn’t fully healed.
Grimes (foot) said that his recent MRI showed no structural dammage and mentioned that the only issue he has with his foot is inflammation and while the second-year guard is out for Wednesday’s season opener, his injury should not keep him out long-term.
Many Knicks fans were hoping to see Grimes’ contribution to the Knicks’ perimeter defense. Their starting lineup mostly rain riot over opponents in preseason, but appeared to struggle in containing dribble penetration.
Currently, neither Jalen Brunson nor Evan Fournier are considered point-of-attack defenders. And with the team set to face Ja Morant and the Grizzlies, Grimes’ presence could have really made the difference.
