BCCI: From Its Beginning To The Present

Cricket in India is governed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). On December 4th, 1928, the BCCI was established to take the place of the Calcutta Cricket Board. Six regional associations served as its founding members at first. Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, in Maharashtra, is home to the organization’s headquarters.

The president is appointed on a three year tenure and paid Rs.5 crore per year or Rs.15 crore in total.

At the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), each of the 30 affiliates casts a vote to choose the President. Given that the Indian board is by far the wealthiest in cricket, the role takes enormous significance. The meeting’s chairman is also the outgoing President, who casts a vote. Zone-wise rotation of the post occurs throughout the nation. A president who is elected is only eligible to serve for a maximum of three years in that position.
