WWE is finally ready to let some unexpected storylines branch out as Roman Reigns vs Finn Balor was announced this week on Smackdown, know about our prediction for the tie
After months of rounding up rumors about John Cena returning to face Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship, WWE seems to be taking a different trajectory. This Friday Night on Smackdown, John Cena wasn’t the only one who returned and issued a challenge to the Head of the Table; The Prince Finn Balor was also the one. But in a surprising turn of events, while Reigns deemed Cena not good enough for a Summerslam match, he accepted Finn Balor’s challenge.
Roman Reigns Declines John Cena’s Challenge And Accepts Finn Balor’s Instead
John Cena kicked off Smackdown last night in Cleveland, Ohio as he talked about his past experiences in the Firefly Funhouse before ‘chin checking’ Roman Reigns. He stated that Reigns ‘sucked’ and demanded him to come out. After he did so for the second time, he was met by Paul Heyman who told Cena that he would have to wait for his answer and that he’ll get it tonight. As for Reigns’ answer, it was kind of unexpected and made little sense till The Prince showed up and issued another challenge.

So does this mean John Cena is out of the picture? Absolutely not.
It is not confirmed yet when exactly Roman Reigns vs Finn Balor will happen. It could happen next week on Smackdown, as much as it could happen on Summerslam. But Balor’s entry into the Universal title scene does not mean John Cena’s exit. We could just as well get a Triple Threat Match on Summerslam or even a number one contender’s match between John Cena and Finn Balor in the coming weeks; so Cena can prove himself worthy of a match with Reigns.
