The lawmaker, who represented Kanker district’s Bhanupratappur seat, was taken by ambulance Saturday night to a hospital in nearby Dhamtari town. Mandavi was reportedly pronounced dead on Sunday morning, according to Sushil Anand Shukla, chief of the state Congress’s media wing.
Taking to Twitter, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel wrote,

Who Is Manoj Singh Mandavi?
Manoj Singh Mandavi was a well-known politician from Chhattisgarh. He has been in the news because he passed away recently.
He was born on November 14, 1964, in Chhattisgarh’s Telagara village, Kanker district. His father’s name was Hari Shankar Mandavi.
Manoj Singh Mandavi achieved a good standard of education despite coming from a tribal background. In 1986, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Government Degree College Kanker, a Ravishankar University Raipur affiliate; in 1988, he received a Master of Arts in Sociology.
He was married and his spouse’s name is Savitri Mandavi. They have two sons together.
He died on October 16, 2022, at the age of 57. At the time of his death, he lived in Nathia Nawagaon in the Tehsil Kanker along with his family.
His Career
In 1998, Manoj Singh Mandavi won a seat in the state of Madhya Pradesh’s legislative assembly. In 2000, Mandavi was elected to the Chhattisgarh state legislature as a result of the Madhya Pradesh Reorganisation Act, which created the new state.
Between 2000 and 2003, he was the Chhattisgarh government of Ajit Jogi’s minister of state for the home and prisons. In 2003, he ran for office in the Bhanupratappur constituency as an Indian National Congress (INC) candidate, but he was defeated by Deo Lal Dugga of the BJP.
Manoj Singh Mandavi ran for the next legislative election in 2008 as an Independent, but he was defeated by Bramhanand of the BJP by 15479 votes.
He defeated Satish Latiya of the BJP and received 45.98% of the vote in the Bhanupratappur seat in 2013 by garnering 64,837 votes as an INC candidate. In the 2018 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly election, he defeated Deo Lal Dugga of the BJP.
In the 4th Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, he submitted his candidacy papers on November 30, 2019. On December 2, 2019, he was chosen to hold the position by a unanimous vote.
