Boca Juniors players were lived at the match officials for being denied what they claimed was a perfectly legal goal. After being refereed to VAR, the goal was not given, the second time the visitors were denied a goal on the night.

It sparked turmoil as Atletico Mineiro won 3-1 on penalties with both the set of players seen having a go at each other. However, Boca Juniors soon directed their ire at the referees with them clearly out for blood as they launched an assault on them.
