Amos Kipruto came second at the delayed 2021 Tokyo Marathon. He achieved the London Marathon held on the 2nd of October 2022- this being his first global win in the sport. He has achieved the bronze medal in the men’s marathon at the World Athletics Championships 2019, held in Doha, Qatar. He was also a representative of Kenya at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Kipruto made a move with five kilometers left and completed it in just two hours four minutes and 39 seconds to take his first marathon title after coming second to world record holder at Eliud Kipchoge in Japan in March.

Kiprutoโs title on debut in London never looked in doubt after that as he crossed the line well ahead of Ethiopian Leul Gebresilase in second followed by Somali-born Belgian Bashir Abdi in third. Bekele dug deep and finished at number fifth.
