2022 Cazoo British Open Semi-final Results, Scores, And Match Winners
When Mark Allen defeated Noppon Saengkham 6-1 in the Cazoo British Open semifinals, he characterized his own performance as almost flawless. As the overwhelming favorite for the championship, Northern Ireland’s Allen lived up to his reputation by dominating Thailand’s Saengkham and securing the victory in just 112 minutes to advance to his 14th ranking final.
The Thai only managed to score 11 points in the opening five frames as Allen raced to a 5-0 lead with breaks of 69, 76, 133, 69, and 56. Until Allen missed a red to a central pocket on 44 and Saengkham cleared with 48 before raising his hands to the fans in celebration after getting one on the board, a whitewash appeared certain in frame six. In the seventh hole, Saengkham was down 64-0 and had a chance to clear after misplaying a red, but he missed the final green and all hope of a comeback was lost.
Ryan Day, meanwhile, is one match away from winning his biggest career trophy after keeping his composure to beat Robbie Williams 6-5 in the Cazoo British Open championship semifinal. At one moment, Day trailed 2-4 but won three consecutive frames to attain 5-4 lead before Williams levelled the score 5-5 to force decider. Ultimately, the Welshman triumphed to secure his place against Mark Allen in the championship game.
