On Wednesday, September 28, President Droupadi Murmu named senior attorney R Venkataramani as India’s new attorney general, know his age and biography

KK Venugopal will be replaced as India’s Attorney General by Venkataramani since he was unable to hold onto the position for personal reasons. The newly appointed person will hold the position for three years starting on the day he assumes it.

Who Is India’s New Attorney General?

Venkataramani, 72, has remained a former member of the Law Commission and has been in the Supreme Court for more than 40 years in his career.

In 1977, Venkataramani registered with the Tamil Nadu Bar Council, and in 1979, he began working for Senior Advocate PP Rao in the Supreme Court. He established his own legal business there, and in 1997, the Supreme Court named him a Senior Advocate in 1982.

In 2010, R Venkataramani was appointed to the Law Commission of India. And in 2013, he was reappointed for a second term. He has experience practising in many areas of law, including corporate and securities law, environmental law, and laws relating to education.

And has particular expertise in constitutional law, arbitration law, law of indirect taxes, law of corporations, and securities. In the Supreme Court and High Courts, he has defended many state governments and Central and State Public Sector Undertakings.

Between 2004 and 2010, Venkataramani also served as a Special Senior Counsel for Government of India departments in cases. Before the Supreme Court and High Courts. He also served as counsel for the Supreme Court in cases involving the working conditions of court personnel.

R Venkataramani: Succeeding As A General

“The President is happy to nominate Shri R Venkataramani, Senior Advocate, as Attorney General of India for a period of three years. Beginning on the day he assumes his office,” according to a statement from the law ministry.

He will replace KK Venugopal, whose term ends on September 30. In July 2017, Venugopal, 91, was chosen for the position. On June 29. And was reappointed as the nation’s top law enforcement official for another three months.
