On September 17, 2022, the event was slated to take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Jesse Rodriguez failed to produce a spectacular knockout against Israel Gonzalez on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. However, he still managed to win and retain his WBC junior bantamweight title. Rodriguez, who improved his fighting reputation in the co-main event to Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin 3, won by scores of 118-109, 117-110, and 114-113.

Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez vs Israel Gonzalez Match Events & How it Unfolded?

In the fifth round’s opening 35 seconds, Gonzalez connected with a right hand as Rodriguez advanced. Later in the fifth, they swapped shots inside, with Rodriguez supporting Gonzalez with a right-left combination. Just before the seventh round’s halfway point, Rodriguez connected with a right hook during a brief exchange. Gonzalez was thrown into the ropes just before the seventh round came to a close due to a straight left from Rodriguez.

Gonzalez put out a strong effort, but Rodriguez outperformed him with a sharper, harder performance. In the eighth round, Rodriguez took a point penalty for a low blow. Ironically, despite dropping Gonzalez with the shot and appearing to be lower than the one Rodriguez was called for in the eighth, referee Kenny Bayless indicated that another low hit in the eleventh was on the belt line and didn’t take away a point or strangely establish a count.

Nevertheless, Rodriguez’s effort was sufficient to give him his third victory of 2022, bringing him that much nearer to perhaps being named Fighter of the Year.
