Richard Gasquet, an experienced player, gave France a superb start earlier in the match. The former world No. 7 defeated Australian Jason Kubler in the opening singles round 6-2 6-4.

After defeating Croatia 3-0, Italy wants to maintain its position as the favourite. A victory today would increase the likelihood of making it to the Final 8. The Italian team is one of the top contenders for the Davis Cup win this year due to its quality and depth.

On the other hand, Argentina needs a victory badly in order to maintain its chances of qualifying after its shocking loss to Sweden on Tuesday. It would be incredibly challenging for Guillermo Coria’s team to qualify if they suffered another loss today.

Spain vs Serbia

Roberto Bautista Agut gave Spain’s Group B campaign a winning start on Wednesday in Valencia. The World No. 21 defeated Miomir Kecmanovic in a 7-6(5), 7-6(5) triumph, and Spain now leads Serbia 2-0.

Italy vs Croatia

In Bologna, Italy won Group A through to Matteo Berrettini’s 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-1 victory over Borna Coric of Croatia.

The 26-year-old won after two hours and twenty-four minutes with 15 aces, giving Italy an insurmountable 2-0 lead over Croatia. Lorenzo Musetti, a member of the #NextGenATP, upset Borna Gojo in the first round with a score of 6-4, 6-2 in 86 minutes.

The Italians completed the sweep with Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini’s 3-6, 7-5, and 7-6(3) victories over Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic.

United States vs Great Britain

All three rubbers in the tie between the United States and Great Britain proceeded to a final set, with the United States ultimately winning. Rajeev Ram and Jack Sock overcame Andy Murray and Joe Salisbury after two hours and 49 minutes of play, coming back from a set and a break down to win 5-7, 6-4, 7-5.

In the first game of the tie, American Tommy Paul defeated British player Daniel Evans 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. British player Cameron Norrie tied American player Taylor Fritz by scores of 2-6, 7-6(2), and 7-5 before the Americans won the doubles match.
