As per a report by NBA.com, on Thursday, September 1st, the Work out singer has been named as the cover athlete for NBA 2K23 ‘Dreamer Edition.’

As per reports, the game will be available at GameStop in Canada and the United States on September 9.
The MyCareer mode will make the rapper a playable character. According to 2K, the rapper will be seen along with Dreamville musicians Bas and Elite, who will, “help players befriend J Cole and capture the minds of The City.”
In a recent interview, the Grammy winner artists expressed the importance of music within a game as he said, “NBA 2K has long been a place to discover new musical talent through their game.”
He further added, “It’s been an amazing journey to not only appear on a cover of this year’s game, but to be part of the MyCAREER storyline.”
As per various reports, the soundtrack of the game has been revealed. Many famous personalities such as Megan Thee Stallion and Drake are featured in the soundtrack.
In a recent media interaction, the Vice President of Global Marketing Strategy, Alfie Brody at NBA 2k said, “The sheer scale, depth and talent featured in this year’s MyCAREER creates an unparalleled experience.”
Brody further elaborated, “At the top of that list of talent is our first cover star, who truly sits at the intersection of basketball and music.”
J Cole Playing Basketball For?
Although the rapper J Cole is mainly known for his influential music, he is also a professional basketball player for the Scarborough Shooting Stars.
The ‘Heavens EP’ singer has signed with the Canadian Elite Basketball League earlier this year. Back in 2021, the 37-year-old singer was seen playing with the Basketball Africa League.
The rapper’s initial debut into basketball received much criticism. In a report, the Guardian has suggested that the criticism may have been a “Marketing Stunt.”
However, the NBA seems to be continuing supporting him as they have endorsed Cole’s involvement even on their official cover.
