On August 24 and 25, respectively, Welcome to Wrexham premiered on FX in the US and Disney+ globally, including the UK. The first two episodes introduce Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney to the audience. Following their adventure of purchasing a football club on the other side of the globe despite their lack of experience in the sport and their lack of prior acquaintance.

The 39-year-old, who was born and raised in London, studied at Edinburgh University before attending Eton College. After they first met in Always Sunny in Philadelphia, he became a close friend. The coworker of Rob McElhenney, and they later collaborated to write and star in the Apple TV+ comedy Mythic Quest.
As Rob says in the documentary series, McElhenney was encouraged to take up football as a result of Humphrey, a devoted Liverpool supporter, watching it when they were composing Mythic Quest.
