Kashaf’s Explanation
“I personally used the phrase during this protest. I had no desire to act in a way that would have violated the law. My objective was for everyone who disparages or speaks ill of the Prophet to receive the punishment “sar tan se juda.” That’s what my religion teaches,” quoted Kashaf.
When asked about the effects of the words he had been chanting, the activist added, “Hyderabad is entirely controlled by us.” He continued, “I am responsible for whatever occurs in the future.
When a mob in Udaipur loudly sang “Sar Tan Se Juda” to support the assassins of a Hindu tailor named Kanhaiya Lal in June of this year, the divisive chants came to light. Lal was charged with making similar disparaging remarks about the Prophet. Two men who were upset by his behaviour beheaded him in his store on a busy roadway.
Kashaf’s Past Record
It should be noted that Kashaf was previously detained by the Hyderabad Cyber Crime police in 2020 for instigating a conspiracy, fostering animosity among communities, and hawking libellous content over Twitter.
After leaving politics, he turned to social activism and took part in the anti-CAA demonstrations. While there were numerous demonstrations against Telangana BJP MLA T Raja Singh, the police on Tuesday detained him after a complaint was made against him for making a derogatory comment about the Prophet Muhammad.
Legislators from the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation corporators also demanded harsh punishment for Singh. Singh was on Tuesday suspended from the BJP due to the uproar that followed his detention.
In Hyderabad’s Charminar and other areas of the old city district, the protests persisted on Tuesday as well. Numerous stores were forced to close, giving the streets a desolate appearance.
