Thiago coolly slotted the ball into the net after giving Gianluigi Donnarumma the eyes in a calmly taken no look penalty on the night
Failing to get a look into Spain’s playing 11 for a magnitude of Euro 2020, Thiago Alcantara has been left largely dissuaded. The Liverpool man has for some inexplicable reason not been trusted by Luis Enrique who has accorded frugal minutes to the midfielder.
However, in the brief moments he’s been called upon to showcase his credentials on the pitch, Thiago has been at his luscious best. The same was on show during his cameo against Italy in the first semi-final of the European competition.
Called upon to try and change the game for Spain, Thiago kept the ball ticking around the park for his team. However, his best moment came in the penalties as he was unfazed by the daunting task infront of him.
Thiago Nets Cool No Look Penalty Against Italy
With Alvaro Morata levelling things for Spain in the 80th minute and with extra-time failing to break the deadlock, the Italy vs Spain matchup went down to penalties. And Thiago was handed over the enormous task of being one of the penalty takers for his country.
And he ended up hitting one of the finest penalty on the night. Feigning a run up which augured towards him looking to bundle the ball into the right side of the net, Thiago stuttered before slotting in his penalty in the left hand bottom corner.
What really left Gianluigi Donnarumma perturbed were Thiago’s eyes as the Spaniard went onto score a no look penalty. Unfortunately for him, the exceptional effort was sold down the river by Alvaro Morata who missed for Spain.
