Moss died on Thursday at The Phoenix, an assisted living facility in Albany, Georgia. She was the last surviving adult cast member of It’s a Wonderful Life. Her net worth stood at $1 million.

The actress starred in a very few films before deciding to quit acting to start her career as a businesswoman.
The tragic news of her demise was confirmed by Karolyn Grimes, who starred as a child actor in the film.
While announcing the sad news of her co-star death on her Facebook page, She penned down, “We have another angel! Virginia Patton Moss. She was 97 years old. She is now with her beloved Cruse. She will be missed!”
Virginia Patton Moss Personal Life
Moss was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 25, 1925. Virginia was the niece of World War II general George Patton.
She moved to Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California. She started her acting career through his college.
In her college, Virginia starred in a play written by William C. De Mille, brother of Cecil B. De Mille.
Later she started auditioning for acting parts and appeared in several films in uncredited roles. However, she made her first debut in 1943 with the musical Thank Your Lucky Stars alongside Eddie Cantor.
After that she went on to have small roles in many films such as Janie, Hollywood Canteen and The Horn Blows at Midnight.
The actress got her breakthrough with her role as Ruth Dakin Bailey, the wife of George Bailey’s younger brother Harry in the hit Christmas fantasy drama in 1946.
Back in an interview in 2013, Virginia opened up about how she got the role. She said, “I read for him [Capra], and he signed me. I was the only girl he ever signed in his whole career.”
She was married to Cruse W. Moss in 1949, after that she decided to quit her acting career and started focusing on her marriage and family.
Later, the couple relocated to Ann Arbor, Michigan, where Virginia started her career as a businesswoman.
Cruse also talked about his wife’s role in the film in a 2012 interview, where he said, “Virginia was the only girl that was contracted directly by Frank Capra.”
Aside from It’s a Wonderful Life she also starred as the lead in 1948’s Western Black Eagle.
The businesswoman opened up about leaving her acting career in a 2012 interview, where she said, “I couldn’t see myself doing that for the rest of my life.”
The couple shared 3 children and remained married till Cruse’s death in 2018.
