The athlete had left the university’s campus on Tuesday when he was struck by a train at 10.45 p.m. local time at North Camden Street, which is just outside the main entrance.

Someone near the university campus phoned 911 after spotting Kyle’s body on the railroad lines, according to Wingate Police, according to Newsweek. A “young male [who] had been struck by an eastbound train” was discovered by authorities.

The young man scummed to his injuries while being taken to the hospital, according to the police. Wingate Bulldogs, the basketball team Kyle played for, posted a statement on Twitter that read: “Wingate mourns the loss of freshman student-athlete Kyle Honore at @WingateMBB. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kyle’s family, friends, and loved ones.

Kyle had a big personality who could light up the room and instantly make friends, according to Marcus Kirkland, the Bulldogs’ men’s basketball team’s assistant head coach.

“Kyle showed great promise coming out of high school as a four-year varsity player and three-year starting point guard. He was a great addition to our squad. Many people will miss having him around.

Kyle is a native of Dumfries, Virginia, and a Potomac High School alumnus. He spent four seasons as a member of the school’s basketball team, which was led by his father Keith Honore.

According to the institution, Kyle only recently relocated to the Wingate University campus in Union County, roughly 30 miles southeast of Charlotte (August 14).

Kyle’s departure is being mourned by the university and sports community, and many have sent heartfelt tributes on social media. However, according to the police, they are still looking into Honore’s death.

The boys’ basketball team and the whole Potomac community sent Coach Honore, the Honore family, Kyle’s friends, and loved ones their sincere condolences in a statement published by the Potomac Panthers basketball team. “Everyone will sadly miss Kyle.
