According to various reports, The Air Force One filmmaker, Wolfgang Petersen died peacefully at his home on Friday, Aug 12 in the Los Angeles neighbourhood of Brentwood. The renowned director was battling with pancreatic cancer for a long time.
The tragic news of his demise was confirmed by his representative, Michelle Bega. Wolfgang Petersen is survived by his wife, Maria Antoinette, his son Daniel and his son’s wife Berit and two grandchildren Maja and Julien.

Wolfgang Petersen was a German film director, producer and a screenwriter. He was born in Emden, Hanover, Prussia, Germany on March 12, 1941. His net worth stood at $20 million.
Peterson has bagged two Oscar nominations for the World War II submarine warfare film Das Boot (1981).
A few of his famous works includes The NeverEnding Story (1984), Enemy Mine (1985), In the Line of Fire (1993), Outbreak (1995), Air Force One (1997), The Perfect Storm (2000), Troy (2004), and Poseidon (2006).
Throughout his career, he had worked with many A-listers from Hollywood such as George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Glenn Close, Harrison Ford, and Morgan Freeman.
Back in 2016, while interacting with media outlet DW, He opened up about his career and confessed that he should not have done the film Poseidon.
At the time, he said, “I was on a roll at that time. In the Line of Fire, Outbreak, Air Force One, Perfect Storm, Troy — I did all these films in a row, and each one was more successful than the one before. Five in a row”.
