Last week after his protรฉgรฉ Gervonta Davis won the WBA super lightweight title, Floyd Mayweather spoke at a presser and boasted about earning $100 million from a fake fight and legalized sparring, referring to his recent fight with Logan Paul. Fans were shocked after watching the Youtuber survive eight rounds against Floyd. Even boxers had criticized the match. And now ‘Money’ himself has admitted that the fight was fake.

“I’m the only person that can do a fake fight and get 100 million. I could do legalized sparring and get 100 million,” said Mayweather to someone as the post-fight conference was about to start. The exhibition bout between Mayweather and Paul had consisted of constant clinching initiated which mostly Paul had initiated. It went the full distance to the sound of boos from the crowd. In the end, no winner was announced. The 50-0 record holder letting the Youtuber guide the match did not go well with boxing enthusiasts. A legend failing to knock out a novice who survived eight rounds against him was a pill hard to swallow.

Despite the bout being of exhibition nature, it was a hit at the box office with $50m generated from the sales on Showtime and Fanmio in the United States. Floyd Mayweather last fought professionally in 2017. He had stopped the notorious UFC legend Conor McGregor in the 10th round and thus, extended his record to a perfect 50-0. And following his fake lackluster bout with Paul, he seems to have ruled out any more exhibition matches as well.

As he told the reporters after the bout, he is entering the Hall of Fame with nothing left to prove.
