Head To Head: 1-0
Ons Jabeur and Madison Keys have net once in 2020 at Cincinnati Masters and the Tunisian leads the head to head with 1-0.
Prediction
Jabeur has had a successful season, winning 36 of her 46 games and earning two trophies. The first of these occurred at the Madrid Open where, after getting bageled in the second set, she defeated Jessica Pegula in the championship match. Following this, the 27-year-old advanced to the Italian Open final where she was defeated by Iga Swiatek.
Jabeur had a great season on the grass courts, taking home her second victory of 2022 in the Berlin Open. To advance to the final, she defeated Karolina Muchova, Alycia Parks, Aliaksandra Sasnovich, and Coco Gauff. Belinda Bencic withdrew due to an ankle injury, leaving her opponent in the lead 6-3, 2-1 in the championship match.
After competing in Wimbledon, Jabeur won matches over Marie Bouzkova and Tatjana Maria in the semifinal and quarterfinal rounds, respectively, to go to the final.
In the other hand, this season, Madison Keys has triumphed in 20 of her 31 contests. She also won the Adelaide International 2 by defeating Alison Riske in the championship match. The American has performed well in major competitions, making it to the Australian Open semifinals and the Indian Wells quarterfinals.
Given that Keys is playing at home, she shouldn’t be discounted despite Jabeur being the favourite to win the match.
With 14 victories from 20 matches this season, Keys has a respectable record on hardcourts. Only eight out of 13 games were won by Jabeur, giving them a worse win %.
Jabeur will attempt to be aggressive right away and use slices and drop strokes to slow down rallies. Since the Tunisian has recently decreased her error rate, it won’t be simple to counter her risk-taking playing style.
It will ultimately come down to who commits less mistakes. Given Jabeur’s recent performance, she should win this one.
