Although the Indian government has not stated why it has banned BGMI, a Reuters article has revealed that the ban was enacted in accordance with the identical clause of the IT Act that was used to prohibit PUBG Mobile with the ESPL LAN event schedule and date unknown

Esports Premier League Season 2 has been postponed indefinitely as a result of the Indian government’s decision to ban Krafton’s flagship game Battlegrounds Mobile India, which is a big development. Notably, the organisers intended to start a LAN final on August 1st.

On July 28, 2022, the BGMI app was previously taken down from the Apple Store and Google Play Store. The ESPL Season 2 organisers indicated in a statement that they are under pressure to postpone the season due to government directives and the current situation.

This was an unpleasant circumstance for all esports enthusiasts, as well as a significant setback for India Today Gaming, at this stage of the tournament. The statement went on to say that the parties involved will assess the situation and proceed in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Indian government.

ESPL will be started from it’s current level

The organisers also stated their intention to restart the ESPL at the current level they were leaving it at, and the chosen finalist team will be invited once more to compete in the tournament for the championship. The competition’s sponsors, the nation’s gaming community, and each and every ESPL Season 2 participant were also thanked by the organisers.

With a large prize fund of INR 1 crore, the second season of the ESPL was expected to draw players from all across the nation into a high-voltage action. The winners were expected to get INR 50 Lakh, while the second and third place finishers would each receive INR 25 Lakh and INR 10 Lakh. Cash prizes for the top 16 teams were expected to be given out, plus an extra INR 1 Lakh for the Most Valuable Player Award.
