As of 2016, World Breastfeeding Week and the Sustainable Development Goals are linked. (SDGs). WBW was lauded as an essential strategy for boosting breastfeeding in a World Health Assembly decision in 2018.

Events are planned during World Breastfeeding Week to raise public awareness of breastfeeding’s advantages and to educate people about it.
