A 33-year-old Jacksonville-based man Bursey Armstrong was arrested for alleged murder of his girlfriend, Tasheka Young on Sunday, July 24th
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, they reached the Mission Pointe Apartments in North Jacksonville on Saturday where they found the body of a young girl who was later identified as Tasheka Young.

As per Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Young’s boyfriend, Bursey Armstrong was charged with the second-degree murder.
Neighbors also said they heard the duo arguing for hours which led up to Saturday night’s murder.
According to legal documents, Armstrong used a handgun but the Sheriff’s office hasn’t confirmed anything about how Young was murdered or the motive behind the killing.
Armstrong was denied bond after the Judge said that there was substantial probable cause.
After leaning the tragic news of Young’s murder, her friends and closed ones paid their tributes online. Her previous employer, Power 106.1, expressed his condolences via an Instagram post.
He penned down, “Our hearts are broken this morning. Tasheka Young, “Tysheeks”, was a spirited, ambitious, and loved part of the Power 106.1 family for many years.
She loved her job, her community, and most of all her family. Her voice will never be forgotten and we pray for her and her family”.
Who was Tasheka Young?
Tasheka Young was a radio personality in Jacksonville before leaving the business to become a teacher.
She graduated from Bethune Cookman University with a bachelor’s and a master’s degree. She had 2 children and was pregnant at the time of her death.
Action News Jax, Marc Dixon and DJ Naliz, expressed their condolences as, “She was the strong friend that everyone ran to talk to and she was the person people trusted a lot”.
Young and Dixon went to school together and also worked for the same company, Cox Media Group (CMG), which also owns Action News’ Jax.
In a statement, CMG said, “Power 106.1 was saddened to learn about the passing of our former colleague, Tasheka Young. We want to offer our condolences to Tasheka’s loved ones”.
A domestic violence center, Quigley House in Green Cove Springs, said that murder is the leading cause of death against a pregnant woman.
One of Young’s former coworkers, who did not want to be identified, said that “she was a hard worker and loyal friend. Young visited him and his family a week ago”.
Armstrong posted on July 22, a day before Young was found dead on his Facebook.
His arraignment is on August 16
