These rankings are done on the basis of track races being conducted between 200m to 1,000m and are marked on 400m unbanked tracks. On the other hand, indoor tracks are set on 200m tracks, both banked and unbanked.
So let’s have a look at some of the Indian male athletes who made records in the 100m race.
Top 5 record in India 100m Running Men
1. Amiya Kumar Mallick
Mallick is an Indian sprinter and he created a record of completing 100m race in 10.26 seconds. During the 2006 Junior Asian Meet, he had won a silver medal for 100m race, which was held in Colombo. He had also won a bronze medal for the 200m race, during the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games and completed the race in 21.33 seconds. In 2013, he had won a gold medal in the National Open Athletics Championship, which was held in Ranchi and had completed the race in about 21.22 seconds.
2. Anil Kumar Prakash
Prakash is a retired Indian sprinter and he created a record of completing 100m race in 10.30 seconds during the National Circuit athletic meet, which was held in Delhi in 2005. His previous record was 10.21 seconds. During the 1997, National Open Championship, which was held in Gandhinagar, he broke the record of Rajeev Balakrishnan, for 100m race and went on to become the country’s fastest man. Prakash is currently training at the Sports Authority of India, Kollam.

3. Rameshwar Gurjar
Gurjar is an Indian sprinter, who had created a world record for completing the 100m race in 11 seconds, during August 2019. Gurjar belongs from a family of farmers and hails from Narwar village of Shivpuri district, from Madhya Pradesh. During an interview with Sportstar in 2019, he had confessed that if given proper training, he could break Usain Bolt’s record.
4. Sriniwas Gowda
Srinivas Gowda, is a jockey from Kambala and is also known as the “Usain Bolt of India”. He created a record by completing 125m buffalo racing track in 9.55 seconds. He achieved this feat last year. He created another new record this year by completing 100m race in 8.96 seconds. Gowda completed the 125, long Kambala race in 11.21 seconds. The race was conducted in March this year, in which he completed 100m race in 8.96 seconds.
5. Gurindervir Singh
Singh had won a gold medal for the 100m race during the 24th Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championships, which was held in Patiala in March this year. He had completed the race in 10.32 seconds. He is the son of head constable of Punjab Police. The sprinter next would be participating in the World University Games, which is going to be held in August in China. During the 2017, Youth Asia Championship, he had won a gold medal. He had won a silver medal for the 2019 South Asian Games.
