49 year old Zubeen Garg was born to his parents, Mohini Borthakur and Ily Borthakur. Garg basically works and sings in the Assamese, Bengali, and Hindi-language film and music industries, but has sung in different other languages. His songs are in Bishnupriya Manipuri, Boro, English, Goalpariya, Kannada, Karbi, Khasi, Malayalam, Marathi, Missing, Nepali, Odia, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Tiwa.
He is also an instrumentalist and plays 12 instruments including the Ananda Lohori, dhol, dotara, drums, guitar, harmonica, harmonium, mandolin, keyboard, tabla and various percussion instruments. He is a dropout from Guwahati University and married Garima Saika Garg in 2002.
Zubeen Garg got his confidence to become a singer when he got a gold medal for his western solo performance at a youth festival held in year 1992. Zubeen entered into the professional music world with his debut Assamese album Anamika, which was released in year 1992. His one of the first composed songs from this album was the “Gaane Ki Aane” which he composed at the age of just 13 years.
He later released several other albums and film songs such as Maya in year 1994, Asha in 1995, Ujaan Piriti in 1995, etc. Zubeen Garg got married to his love of life, Garima Saikia, who is a fashion designer from Golaghat, Assam on the 4th of February in 2002.

Garg is a football fan and has played matches to collect funds for flood-affected people. He was also the main non-political figure of the Anti-CAA protest in Assam, India with him known to persistently peddle an anti-Hindu agenda and fabricate stories to wreck havoc.
