The 19th Asian Games is set to take place this year, ahead of that, the senior National Women’s Kabaddi Championship 2023 will take place starting from March 23, check out a brief preview below.

The 2023 National Women’s Kabaddi Championship marks the 69th edition of the Kabaddi nationals.

Entering the competition, Himachal Pradesh are the current reigning champions and will be looking to defend their title.

National Women’s Kabaddi Championship 2023 date and venue

The Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) are the organizers behind the National Women’s Kabaddi Championship 2023. They will organize the event in association with the Amateur Kabaddi Association Haryana. The organizers announced on Tuesday that the championship will take place at the Shri Krishna Group of Institutions in Mahendergarh, Haryana. It will take place from March 23 to 26.

All the matches in the upcoming competition will be played out on the kabaddi mat. The Organizing Committee also announced that they will provide free boarding and lodging to the participating teams and officials along with local transportation from the 22nd to 27th March 2023.

This year’s Kabaddi competition in Mahendergarh marks the 69th edition of the tournament ever since its inception. The competition will serve as a platform for players to showcase their talent while also impress the selectors for the upcoming Asian Games scheduled to take place later this year.

National Women’s Kabaddi Championship 2022

During the previous edition of the National Women’s Kabaddi Championship held in 2022, 29 teams participated in the competition. Last year’s competition took place in Charkhi Dadri, Haryana where each of the teams were spread across eight groups.

Leading up to the final, the first semi-final match featured the hosts Haryana vs Himachal Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh won against Haryana with a 35-32 margin. Meanwhile, in the second semi-final match, Indian Railways dominated over Rajasthan to win the match 41-17.

As such, the final match featured Himachal Pradesh against the Indian Railways team. After an intense match, Himachal Pradesh emerged triumphant with a 33-31 score over Indian Railways.
