The Mahadevikadu Kattil Thekkethil Chundan won the race with an impressive timing of four minutes and 30.77 seconds.

The Pallathuruthy Boat Club have previously also won the annual races held in 2018 and 2019.

The 68th Nehru Trophy Boat Race (NTBR) Results

The Pallathuruthy Boat Club rowed the Mahadevikadu Kattil Thekkethil Chundan for a first place finish.

Overall, the race had a closely contested final race where the NCDC Boat Club paddled the Nadubhagam Chundan for a second place finish. They finished with a timing of four minutes and 31.57 seconds.

The Punnamada Boat Club, paddling the Veeyapuram Chundan secured the third place. They team finished with a timing of four minutes and 31.61 seconds.

The fourth and final team to take part in the final race was the Champakulam Chundan, rowed by the Kerala Police Boat Club team. They completed the race with a timing of four minutes and 31.70 seconds.

The Race Details

Kerala Finance Minister K N Balagopal inaugurated the 68th edition of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race (NTBR) 2022. This year’s the edition kick-started at around 11 am and comes following a two-year gap.

Minister of Public Works, P.A. Muhammad Riyas and Minister of Agriculture P. Prasad, along with all Members of Parliament and Members of Legislative Assembly from Alappuzha district, attended the ceremony.

V R Krishna Teja the District Collector and Nehru Trophy Society Chairman gave the welcome speech. Andaman and Nicobar Lt Governor Rt. Adm. Ral D K Joshi graced the event as the chief guest.

An interesting fact about the coveted Nehru trophy is that it bears the signature of the first PM of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The entire event is marked by much vigour, sportsman spirit and revelry.

Over 2,000 police personnel, including 20 DySPs, 50 Inspectors and 465 sub-inspectors were deployed under District Police Chief G Jayadev as part of the security arrangements for the boat race.
