The 43-year-old player was looking desperate for a good finish. He had started with the week No. 138 on the FedEx Cup points list.
But, Scott needs to get inside the top 125 in the final three events of 2021-2022 season, so he can play in the Playoffs for the 13th time in 14 years.
Even after shooting even-par on the front nine, he was still two shots ahead with 5 holes to play despite bogeys on the 11th and 13th. But soon it went from bad to worse, when a triple-bohey 7 on the 14th caused him to slide out of the lead.
Tony Finau, who started 5 back of Piercy, made 6 birdies in his first 16 holes. Not only did the 32-year-old player grab the Lead but he sprinted away from the rest of the field and took his own 4-stroke advantage with one to play.
A bogey on the par-5 18th still allowed Tony to pull out his third career PGA tour title, which led him finishing with a closing 67 on Sunday.
For his win, Tony Finau claimed the $1.35 million as the first place prize money payout from an overall purse of $7.5million.
