Manipur won the women’s football gold medal of 2022 National Games on Monday at the Eka Arena Transstadia in Ahmedabad with a 2-0 victory over Odisha that was made possible by two goals in the first half. Manipur captain N. Bala Devi scored the game’s first goal in the 10th minute and later, N. Ratanbala Devi, doubled Manipur’s advantage in 36th minute. Until Bala Devi hit the target with a strike from within the box, goalkeeper Sandipta Das firmly guarded the Odisha post. Elsewhere in the bronze-medal clash, Tamil Nadu defeated Assam by score of 5-1 to secure bronze.
In men’s hockey final Karnataka will face-off against Uttar Pradesh while Haryana is set to face Maharashtra in bronze-medal playoff. Karnataka won their semi-final match comfortably against Haryana by score of 3-1 but UP advanced to final after emerging victorious 6-5 after tie-breaker. On Tuesday, both men’s and women’s hockey medal round matches will be played at Major Dhyanchand Hockey Ground in Rajkot.
On Tuesday, men’s and women’s volleyball semi-final matches will take place with medal round matches scheduled on last day. Also on Tuesday, men’s football final and boxing semi-final matches will be held.
