Men’s and Women’s Archery event concluded today with Haryana bagging four gold medals including win in men’s and women’s individual event along with women’s team event. Elsewhere, Telangana dominated in Badminton with multiple gold medals including in women’s doubles and men’s singles.

National Games of India 2022 Results Today, Day 7 Schedule, Event Summary, And Medal Winners

On Thursday at the National Games, Chattisgarh’s Aakarshi Kashyap and Telangana’s B Sai Praneeth both put up outstanding performances to bag gold medal in women’s and men’s singles badminton respectively. In contrast to Praneeth, a former bronze medalist at the world championships, who battled hard to defeat Mithun Manjunath of Karnataka in the men’s singles final, Aakarshi Kashyap won her final clash against top-seeded Malvika Bansod in straight sets with a score of 21-8, 22-20.

In a lopsided final, Telangana duo of N Sikki Reddy & Gayatri Gopichand defeated national champions Ashwini Bhat & Shikha Gautam in straight sets with score of 21-14, 21-11 to clinch women’s doubles gold. Meanwhile, men’s doubles gold was won by Keralan team of PS Ravikrishna & Sankarprasad Udaykumar, who defeated Hariharan Amsakarunan & R Ruban Kumar via score of 21-19, 21-19. Ashwini Ponnappa & K Sai Prateek of Karnataka won their first tournament gold as a mixed doubles duo with ease, defeating Rohan Kapoor & Kanika Kanwal of Delhi 21-16, 21-13.

Sangeeta’s performance enabled Haryana to win four of the five gold medals available in the recurve division. 22-year-old Sangeeta won women’s solo competition on Thursday by outlasting Anshika Singh, a young Jharkhand archer with score of 6-2 (28-25, 26-23, 24-25, 28-26). Later, Sangeeta teamed up with Bhajan Kaur & Preeti to defeat the star-studded Jharkhand three of Komalika Bari, Ankita Bhakat, & Dipti Kumari 5-4 (shoot-off 28-27) in a fiercely contested women’s team summit match. Atanu Das secured Haryana’s continuous dominance in archery by winning the highly-coveted gold medal in men’s individual recurve.

According to the most recent statistics, Services, the defending champions, is far in front of second place with 89 medals, including 40 gold medals. With 66 total medals, including 25 gold medals, Haryana is in second place, followed by Maharashtra in third with 24 gold medals.
