The Paris 2024 Olympic Games finally concluded on Sunday night with the Closing Ceremony at the Stade de France.
2028 Los Angeles (LA) Olympics schedule, date, new sports and games list, host country details and venue venue
Ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Games, the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics 2026, will take place from February 6, 2026-February 22, 2026.
Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympics dates
The Los Angeles 2028 Olympics is set to start on July 14, 2028, and officially end on July 30. The Opening and Closing Ceremonies will take place at the Los Angeles Coliseum and SoFi Stadium respectively. Following which the Paralympic Games will kick off in Southern California on August 15, up until August 27.

Los Angeles and the United States Olympics hosting history
The 2028 Olympics will mark the third time that Los Angeles has hosted the event. The city previously hosted its first ever Games back in 1932, and then again in 1984. Meanwhile, the United States has only hosted the event on two other occasions, which include the Atlanta 1996 Olympics, and St. Louis in 1904. Meanwhile, the United States have also held the Winter Olympics on four occasions.
Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympics new sports
The upcoming Los Angeles Games will feature several new Olympic sports and the return of some events. Most notably, the menโs and womenโs flag football will make its debut at the event. The event will also see Squash making its debut as an official Olympic sport in 2028. Moreover, sports like Baseball and softball, are set to make a return to the Olympics.
Lacrosse and cricket are also set to make a return to the Olympics in Southern California for the first time in over a century. The Olympic previously had Cricket just once, back in 1900, and lacrosse last featured in 1908.
Breaking will no longer be a part with boxing also likely to leave.
Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympics venues
The events at the upcoming games will take place all around Los Angeles. Track and field events will take place at the Los Angeles Coliseum, which previously hosted the 1932 and 1984 Olympics. The Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium will host all the swimming competitions. However, diving will take place outdoors at Exposition Park, adjacent to the Coliseum. The iconic Crypto.com Arena, home of the Los Angeles Lakers, will host gymnastics events.
Meanwhile, Basketball will take place at Inglewood’s Intuit Dome, a newly completed arena. The LA region has a vast Pacific coastline, which will host multiple events with Long Beach scheduled to host sailing. Meanwhile, Golf, will take place at the Riviera Country Club. On the other hand, softball and canoe slalom will take place in Oklahoma City. Though thatโs incredibly far away from the rest of the Games, Oklahoma City regularly hosts the womenโs College World Series and already has facilities capable of hosting the event.
Upcoming future Olympics
Aside from the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympic Games, the 2030 Winter Olympics will take place in the French Alps, with Nice as the main host city. Meanwhile, Brisbane, Australia, will host the 2032 Summer Olympics and the Salt Lake City, Utah, will host the Winter Olympics in 2034.
