Dan Harper has claimed his first 24-hour race victory in Dubai with BMW and Team WRT, marking a significant achievement in his career. The 24-year-old from Northern Ireland secured the top honor in the 24 Hours of Dubai, which served as the season opener for endurance racing. This victory is considered the biggest win of Harper’s career, having progressed through BMW’s junior program before being promoted to a factory driver in 2023.
Harper was joined by teammates Darren Leung, with whom he had raced for two years, along with Al Faisal Al Zubair, Ben Tuck, and Max Hesse, in the #777 Team WRT BMW. Throughout the 24 hours at the Dubai Autodrome, the team fought at the front, ultimately finishing one lap ahead of the second-placed Porsche 911 team, which included Alex Malykhin, Alexey Nesov, Harry King, and Thomas Preining.
This victory has set a strong tone for Harper’s 2025 season, following his participation in BMW’s LMDh Hypercar testing during the World Endurance Championship’s rookie test in Bahrain in November. A former Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion, Harper had previously won the British GT and GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup titles with Leung in 2023 and 2024. His previous best result in a 24-hour race had been a third-place finish at the Nurburgring 24 Hours last year, alongside Hesse and Charles Weerts.
