2022 MotoGP season will feature many changes from the previous one in 2021, know about the list of the new bikes the teams have gotten for this term
We take a look at the list of changes from last season.
MotoGP 2022 New Bikes And Team Changes
- For the first time since 2004, Aprilia will enter the series with their own full factory squad. Beginning in 2015, Aprilia sponsored and supplied bikes to the Gresini Racing team, as well as providing factory support.
- VR46 Racing Team will enter the championship, replacing Esponsorama Racing, which will exit the premier class after ten seasons. The team will continue to use Ducati machinery until at least the end of 2024.
- Gresini Racing will make their comeback as a completely autonomous team, with Ducati providing the bikes.
- After the 2021 season, Petronas SRT will retire from the sport, with the management team building a new team for 2022. Following that, it was revealed that the team would rename as WithU RNF MotoGP Racing in 2022. The team will use Yamaha bikes until 2022, with options to extend till 2024.
- Maverick Viales was originally contracted to race for Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP until the end of the 2022 season, however he and the team mutually opted to part ways after that season. After being released prematurely from Yamaha, he joined Aprilia Racing in the middle of the season in 2021, replacing Lorenzo Savadori.
MotoGP 2022 Season Riders Lineup
- Tech3 KTM will enter the MotoGP class with 2021 Moto2 champion Remy Gardner and runner-up Ral Fernández. The two riders had previously worked together at Red Bull KTM Ajo.
- Gresini Racing will field Fabio Di Giannantonio in the MotoGP class. Meanwhile, from Esponsorama Racing, Enea Bastianini will join Gresini Racing.
- With the VR46 Racing Team, Marco Bezzecchi will compete in the MotoGP class. Darryn Binder, Brad Binder’s younger brother, will race in the MotoGP class for the WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team.
- Iker Lecuona and Danilo Petrucci moved away from the MotoGP class.
MotoGP Calendar Schedule Changes, Tracks, Format
- The Grands Prix of Argentina, Finland, Japan, Thailand, Australia, and Malaysia are all set to return in 2022.
- The Grands Prix of Doha, Styrian, Emilia Romagna, and Algarve won’t take place in 2022.
- After a 39-year absence, the Finnish Grand Prix will return to the calendar. Further, after a 24-year absence, the Indonesian Grand Prix will return to the calendar.
- The Brazilian Grand Prix, which had been scheduled to return in 2022, was not featured on the list.
