Mugurza defeated Anett Kontaveit 6-3, 7-5 on the final night.
It was a predictable night at the singles event, Fans and pundit favorite Garbine Mugurza got off to a good start and broke Kontaveit early in the match. Later she went on to win the first set comfortably by 6-3.
Estonian Kontaveit picked up some pace in the final and broke Mugurza early in the second set. She was winning 5-3 and was just a game away from leveling the match.
Then, Mugurza defined what champions are made of, she from 3-5 down bounced back to win the second set 7-5. Her comeback and zeal behind winning the set were commendable.
It also marked Mugurza’s 10th singles title. Further her ranking jumped from the 6th spot to the 3rd.

Barbora Krejčíková/ Kateřina Siniaková defeated Hsieh Su-wei/ Elise Mertens in straight sets by a score of 6-3, 6-4.
Another final event was done and dusted in straight sets. World number 1 team of Krejčíková and Siniaková won their maiden WTA title. With this victory, they also end the year with the number 1 spot in the rankings.
The match was a doubles event, but for Siniakova and Hsieh Su-wei, it was a bit of an individual battle as well. Whosoever would have won the match, that athlete would have claimed the individual number 1 rank.
