Amazon Prime Video shared a teaser video for the live-action adaptation of Peko Watanabe’s manga, “1122 For a Happy Marriage” with its release date now out
The video introduces cast members and announces that the series will premiere in June on the platform.
1122: For a Happy Marriage,” is a Japanese comic series created by Peko Watanabe. It was published in Kodansha’s manga magazine called Monthly Morning Two from September 2016 to May 2020. The story was released in seven book volumes, known as tankōbon, which compiled all the chapters.

The team behind the series “1122: For a Happy Marriage” announced that it will consist of seven episodes in total. It will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on June 14. The first three episodes will be released on June 14, followed by episodes 4-5 on June 21 and episodes 6-7 on June 28. The cast includes Akiko Kikuchi portraying Tōko Aihara, Otoya’s older sister, while Rio Uchida plays a young woman whom Shirō encounters at a bar.
Miwako Ichikawa takes on the role of the salon owner where Ichiko and Rei cross paths, and Hairi Katagiri portrays both the director of a chiropractor practice and a client at Ichiko’s web design job. Yumi Morio appears as Mizuki’s mother, with Yoshiko Miyazaki playing Otoya’s mother, and Jun Fubuki as Ichiko’s mother.
Tateto Serizawa is cast as a bartender while Kō Maehara features as a hotel lobby staff member, and Atsushi Hashimoto appears as a real estate agent.
1122: For a Happy Marriage plot
The manga follows the lives of Ichiko Aihara and her husband, Otoya Aihara. Despite being married for seven years and having a good relationship, they lack intimacy and haven’t had children. To address this, they agree to allow extramarital affairs.
Otoya engages in a relationship with Mitsuki, which Ichiko knows about. As Ichiko observes Otoya’s affection for Mitsuki, she undergoes her own transformation. Through this series, Peko Watanabe, the author of “Nikotama,” explores the complexities of honesty and deceit within marriage.
The story delves into the realities faced by couples in their thirties, offering insight to those considering marriage. For a Happy Marriage” received a nomination for the 12th Manga Taishō award in 2019. Additionally, in December 2019, Brutus magazine featured “1122: For a Happy Marriage” on their list of the Most Dangerous Manga.
