Interestingly, Sharif’s party PML-N (Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz) won only 80 seats in the 264-seat parliament.
However, they formed a coalition government with the PPP (Pakistan People’s Party), ensuring that former PM, Imran Khan did not get the majority power despite winning 100 seats out of 264.
Shehbaz Sharif bio
Shehbaz Sharif is a veteran Pakistani politician and businessman who was born on September 23, 1951, in Lahore, Pakistan. He was born into a Punjabi family that spoke Kashmiri. His father, Muhammad Sharif, was an upper-middle-class industrialist and businessman, while his mother came from a family that lived in Pulwama at the time of India’s partition in 1947. Notably, Shehbaz’s parents moved to Lahore from Amritsar. Shehbaz has two brothers named Abbas Sharif and Nawaz Sharif Shehbaz, who is also a three-time Prime Minister.
Age and education
Shehbaz Sharif is currently 72 years old. During his early years, he did his schooling from St. Antony High School, in Lahore. Following which, he obtained a bachelor of arts degree from the Government College University in Lahore.

Shehbaz Sharif wives and children
Interestingly, Shehbaz Sharif has had several wives and it is heavily believed that Shahbaz Sharif married five times. However, the Sharif family only acknowledged his marriages to two of them, Nusrat and Tehmina. Shehbaz first married Nusrat Shehbaz in 1973, and the couple has four children. They have two sons, named Salman and Hamza, and two twin daughters, named Javeria and Rabia.
Following his wife’s death, he got married again in 1993 to Aaliya Honey. However, their marriage did not last for long and the couple eventually got divorced. That same year, Shahbaz Sharif married for the third time with Nargis Khosa but eventually got divorced the following year in 1993. A decade later, in 2003, Shehbaz married for the fourth time to Tehmina Durrani. The couple are still currently married and live together in his ancestral house in Raiwind Palace in Lahore.
Interestingly, several reports state that Shahbaz Sharif got married for the fifth time in 2012, to Kalsoom Hayi. The reports indicate that the couple got married following a secret relationship. However, the same reports state that the relationship quickly deteriorated and the pair eventually divorced. Despite all these heavy rumors, Kalsoom denied her marriage to the famous politician.
Shehbaz Sharif political career
Before starting out his political career, Shehbaz Sharif joined his family business, Ittefaq Group, following his graduation. While working there, he was elected president of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry in 1985. Three years later, in 1988, Shehbaz started his political career and got elected to the Provincial Party of Punjab. He served there till 1990, and then finally got the chance to become the Chief Minister of Punjab in 1997.
However, just two years later, in 1999, Shehbaz and his brother Nawaz went into exile in Saudi Arabia. The brothers eventually returned in 2007, and Shehbaz became the CM of Punjab again, before assuming the role for the third time again in 2013. Despite his successful career in politics, Shehbaz Sharif is accused in various criminal cases of money laundering and defamation. However, he still manages to hold power despite all these charges and accusations.
A few years later, in 2018, Shehbaz Sharif became the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly elections. Then, in April 2022, Shehbaz became the Prime Minister of Pakistan after former PM Imran Khan got ousted from the role. He served as the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan from April 2022 to August 2023. The veteran politician is now all set to become the Prime Minister of Pakistan yet again in 2024.
