While initially part of a group of BSF officials exploring the park, Mishra decided to trek further into the wilderness, deviating from the established route and eventually disappearing. As word of the commandant’s disappearance spread across Garo Hills, search teams equipped with night torches were swiftly deployed.

The efforts proved successful, and Mishra was found safe and sound inside Nokrek Park at approximately 10 PM. The contact with him was established nearly 7 kilometers inside the park, near a Matcha Nokpante, a tiger resting place.
