Telugu superstar Allu Arjun has now been granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court following his arrest by police on Friday in connection with the stampede at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre during the premiere of Pushpa 2. Arjun had moved the Telangana HC after being arrested and sent to judicial remand for 14 days.

Hyderabad police have also detained three individuals linked to the theatre’s management and those arrested include M. Sandeep, owner of Sandhya Theatre; M. Nagaraju, a senior manager; and Gandhakam Vijay Chander, who was overseeing security during the event and they face charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 105 (right of private defence of property), Section 118(1).

Allu Arjun’s family was present when a police squad led by the assistant commissioner showed up at his house earlier in the day to take him into jail.

Before taking him to the police station, the authorities escorted him to their car. The event happened on December 4 when Allu Arjun and his security guards showed up at the theatre, causing an uncontrollable crowd to try to enter the building, which led to a stampede.

“The theatre management did not make any additional provisions regarding security to manage the crowd nor was there any separate entry or exit for the actor’s team though the theatre management had information about their arrival,” the police had said.

Three people, including the theatre’s co-partner, had already been taken into custody by the authorities in relation to this occurrence. Based on the complaint filed by the family of the deceased woman, the police at the Chikkadpally police station filed a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under sections 105 and 118 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
