About Paetongtarn Shinawatra
Born on August 21, 1986, Paetongtarn Shinawatra is a Thai politician and businesswoman. Growing up in Bangkok, Paetongtarn, attended Saint Joseph Convent School and went to Mater Dei School for her early education.
In 2008, Shinawatra, earned a bachelor’s degree from Chulalongkorn University and later went to pursue higher studies at the University of Surrey in England.
The politician came to the limelight after she became the second woman and the youngest person in Thailand’s history to hold the position of Prime Minister.

Paetongtarn, is the youngest child of Thaksin Shinawatra, 75, who served as prime minister from 2001 to 2006 and founded the Pheu Thai Party.
She is also the niece of Yingluck Shinawatra, who served as Thailand’s prime minister from 2011 to 2014.
Her party and its allies control 314 out of 493 seats in parliament, easily securing her election as prime minister, as she needed the support of at least half of the current legislators.
The Shinawatra family is one of the richest and most influential families in Chiang Mai and Paetongtam is a Theravada Buddhist by religion.
