I've stayed quiet on the appropriation of my work because I think @HumansOfBombay shares important stories, even if they've monetized far past anything I'd feel comfortable doing on HONY. But you can't be suing people for what I've forgiven you for. https://t.co/0jZM05YyTt

Why Brandon Stanton criticized HOB for their lawsuit against POI?
It’s important to note that Humans of Bombay bears a conceptual resemblance to Humans of New York, a platform created by blogger Brandon Stanton when he was 39 years old. In response to the lawsuit, Brandon Stanton criticized Karishma Mehta’s Humans of Bombay, expressing the opinion that they should not sue others for emulating something he himself had forgiven them for, specifically the imitation of Humans of New York. Subsequently, HOB responded on Twitter to Brandon, expressing their disappointment with his seemingly rushed and uninformed judgment regarding their efforts to safeguard intellectual property.
Humans of New York was established by photographer Brandon Stanton in November 2010. Notably, HONY started as a photoblog and book featuring street portraits and interviews from the streets of New York City, four years prior to the launch of HOB. Some of HONY’s noteworthy achievements include interviews with former US President Barack Obama and its coverage of the European Migrant Crisis in partnership with UNHCR. HONY is also actively involved in philanthropic initiatives, having launched several charitable efforts over the years.
How public reacted to lawsuit made by HOB founder Karishma Mehta?
Founded in 2014 by Karishma Mehta, who was featured in Forbes, Humans of Bombay documents the life stories of individuals and presents them through its social media platforms and website. The platform has covered numerous prominent individuals, including Ratan Tata, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Rajkummar Rao, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Boman Irani, Anupam Kher, Kartik Aaryan, Sunil Chhetri, Milind Soman, Sapna Bhavnani, Kajol, and Ajay Devgan.
The internet’s response mirrored Brandon Stanton’s reaction to HOB’s legal action against People of India. While negative criticism persists, many individuals continue to tag founder Karishma Mehta and Humans of Bombay, expressing their disapproval of the lawsuit filed against People of India, which was founded by Drishti Saxena.
