The results for 2023 Civil Services Examination were released by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Tuesday.
Aditya Srivastava achieved All India Rank 1 whereas Animesh Pradhan and Donuru Ananya Reddy were placed on second and third positions.

The Civil Services Examination (CSE) is required for admission to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service, Indian Foreign Service, and other services. It is administered by the Union Public Service Commission. A few thousand candidates are chosen to write the main exam out of the over a million applicants that sit for the preliminary exam each year. Only few qualified applicants are chosen after the personality test.
According to the UPSC, 1,016 applicants passed the mains test this year and were suggested for various central government jobs. Among them is Ananya Reddy who secured the third All India Rank.
Who is Ananya Reddy?
Ananya Reddy is a Miranda House, Delhi University alumnus and holder of the All India Rank 3 in UPSC examination. Her full name is Donuru Ananya Reddy and she hails from Mahabubnagar, Telangana.
22 year old Ananya was born into a family where her father is self-employed and her mother is a homemaker.
Reddy revealed her approach to acing the challenging Civil Services Exam. She claimed to have studied for twelve to fourteen hours per day, adhering to her own timetable to finish the course. Reddy studied Geography in her undergraduate course but she chose Anthropology as an elective for the CSE exam. She did self-study for her other courses but took Anthropology classes.

Reddy also mentioned that she always wanted to do something for the society and serve people of the nation. She drew inspiration to crack the exam by looking at the society.
The chairman of the UPSC commission is accompanied by additional appointees chosen by the Indian President. The Commission typically has nine to eleven members including its chairperson. Each member is in office for at least six years or until he turns sixty-five years old. The Union Public Service Commission (Members) Regulations, 1969, regulate the terms and conditions of service for the chairman and members of the Commission.
The chairman or other members of the Commission can apply for resignation to the President of India. They can even be removed from their office by the President of India.
