His family shared the heartbreaking news of his demise through an Instagram post, reaching out for support to arrange his funeral. In their announcement on Monday, they wrote,
Our beloved ‘Amp’ Fiddler, Detroit’s own world renowned ambassador of funk, soul & eAmp Fiddlerlectronic music, keyboardist, producer, Afro-futurist, and guiding force of light for so many, has transitioned at the age of 65.

After an extensive and noble battle with cancer, he now gracefully rests in peace and power.

Who was Amp Fiddler?
Amp Fiddler was a renowned American singer, songwriter, keyboardist, and record producer. He has been in the news because he recently passed away at the age of 65 after suffering from a deadly illness.
His full name was Joseph Anthony Fiddler. He was born on 17 May 1958 in Detroit, Michigan, U.S.
At 16, Amp Fiddler started taking music lessons. He pursued his music education at Oakland Community College, Oakland University, and Wayne County Community College following his high school graduation. Upon leaving Oakland University, he embarked on a full-time tour with Enchantment.
He had been married to Beth Griffith.

Trained by jazz pianist Harold McKinney in Oakland, Amp Fiddler rose to prominence in the early 1980s as a vocalist with the R&B group Enchantment. After the band’s last album, “Utopia,” he later joined George Clinton’s Parliament Funkadelic, whom he played with from 1985 until 1996.
In 1991, he and his brother formed Mr. Fiddler, a group that combined inspirations from the 1940s with contemporary drum machines to create their debut album, “With Respect.” The fiddler’s impact went beyond just his compositions.
Amp Fiddler was a key figure in J. Dilla’s career, beginning when he brought Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest to J. Dilla’s attention during a 1994 tour. He left a lasting impression on the music business by working with artists like Raphael Saadiq, Prince, and Maxwell during his career.
