Weather forecast for Day 1 of WTC

India and Australia brazed heads in the 2023 edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy before the World Test Championship Final. India won resoundingly 2-1 and successfully defended their title for the fourth time in a row. Therefore, following this intense match, the WTC final promises to provide spectators with another mouthwatering match.

But let’s see if the weather could have a significant effect on the match, similar to the previous World Test Championship Final between India and New Zealand. The first day of the test match is expected to be mostly sunny with an average high temperature of 20°C and an 8% probability of precipitation. During the night, there is a 10% chance of rain and a drop in temperature to 10°C. The forecast also predicts that Day 1 will be partly overcast and 58% humid.

What will happen if the WTC championship game is tied?

The trophy will be split between the two teams if the game is a tie notwithstanding the utilisation of the reserve day. A team can only lay a claim to the desired trophy by winning; the team that finished higher in the points table will not have an advantage going into the final.

India is now considered the best Test cricket team in the world and has won four straight series against Australia. However, the Rohit Sharma-led team’s preparation for the crucial match is hampered by the absence of key players like Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul due to injury. The Indian players won’t be as fresh for the game because they have played for two months in IPL rigorously.

The majority of the Australian players, on the other hand, did not participate in the IPL and will enter the summit match following a healthy two-month break. They may therefore be in a better position going into the title match.
