Despite his natural physical abilities playing a part, Haaland has clearly achieved his present level of physical excellence by putting in the extra effort.

The Man City star has undergone quite the body transformation throughout his playing career. This is visible by looking back at his early breakthrough days at Red Bull Salzburg and his current form at the Etihad Stadium.

Haaland has definitely undergone a major change in his physical structure from a slight youngster to muscly young adult.

Haaland’s Physical Transformation

Haaland himself personally confirmed his physical transformation by revealing that he had undergone a weight increase. Proving that all the comparison photographs aren’t just gimmicks.

He stated:

If you look at my body, if you look at my legs, you will see that I have changed a lot.

I have become a real man. I have become faster. That is one of the most important things. I have gone from 86 kilos to 94, but it is not a beer belly, it is about gross muscle mass. I take great care of what I eat.

Haaland’s Diet

The 22-year-old striker recently revealed a fascinating insight on his diet and daily routine as part of the “Haaland: The Big Decision,” documentary.

In the documentary, he shows off chunks of heart and liver provided by his butcher, while saying:

You (other people) don’t eat this, but I am concerned with taking care of my body.

I think eating quality food that is as local as possible is the most important. People say meat is bad for you but which? The meat you get at McDonald’s?

Or the local cow eating grass right over there? I eat the heart and the liver.

Haaland makes sense as the heart and liver are superfoods rich in vitamin B, iron, phosphorus, copper, and magnesium.

Daily Routine

Haaland also described his own daily routine by adding:

The first thing I do in the morning is to get some sunlight in my eyes — it is good for circadian rhythm.

I have also started to filtrate my water a bit. I think it can have great benefits for my body.

His father, Alfie who is also a former footballer, cooks a lasagna for Haaland before games. He revealed that his son’s diet had partly been influenced by Cristiano Ronaldo’s own diet.

Alfie was quoted as saying:

He was told a story by Patrice Evra about a lunch he had with Ronaldo and Cristiano had fish, nothing else. Erling now tries to do the same.

Besides that, Haaland is also a fan of ice baths and glasses or screens that filter out blue light in order to improve his sleep.

Haaland’s Career

Athletes have all kinds of different body shapes and sizes. Haaland’s rippling frame, crafted through a diet overseen by experts and a fitness routine prescribed by some of the best coaches in the business are what made him he is today.

And it looks like his career is just getting started with already 20 goals in all competitions for his club. The young forward is just 22 and plays in a team with some of the best passers of the game. It looks like all the conditions are set right for him.
