Liverpool are currently under trouble with a number of starting players on the injury list. Sunday’s 3-2 loss to Arsenal further adds to the situation.
Jurgen Klopp Delivers Liverpool Injury Update
Jurgen Klopp delivered a low-spirited update on Luis Diaz and Trent Alexander-Arnold injury and fitness as Liverpool’s injury list rises.
Klopp took off Diaz after a suspected knee problem shortly before half-time on Sunday afternoon’s 3-2 defeat against Arsenal. Diaz picked up the injury after a challenge from Thomas Partey.
Following which, Alexander-Arnold also failed to appear for the second half. Trent injured his right ankle after Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli trod on it towards the end of the first half.
Diaz left the Emirates stadium on crutches while wearing a protective brace on his left knee. Both he and Alexander-Arnold will undergo scans today to assess the level of the injuries.
Klopp stated:
Lucho we had to change before half-time, something with the knee. Not good.
He will have a scan and we will know more, I have no idea about the extent.
On top of that, Trent was bad as well with the ankle, a twisted ankle. Not good.
Trent in seven years never went off if he could have played on, he felt too much pain and there was slight swelling immediately. So he will have a scan.
More Problems Coming Up Ahead
Following the injuries, both Diaz and Alexander-Arnold are now in danger of missing several games before the World Cup pause. The World Cup is in five weeks and Liverpool are scheduled to visit Rangers in the Champions League on Wednesday.
After which they will welcome title-holders Manchester City in the Premier League next Sunday.
Klopp is already in trouble with a growing injury list and just recently dealt with another injury blow. Ahead of Reds’ trip to the Emirates, their on-loan midfielder Arthur Melo suffered a blow.
The Brazilian international will face three months on the sidelines after undergoing an operation on his thigh injury.
