At the third Khelo India University Games, Panjab University of Chandigarh climbed to first place in the medal standings on Wednesday by winning 10 gold medals, moving Guru Nanak Dev University and the defending champion Jain University to second and third, respectively. On the final day of competition in rowing at the Ramgarh Taal, Panjab University took home five of the 15 gold medals available. Overall, the rowing team from the Chandigarh based University won 11 gold, 4 silver, & 6 bronze medals for a total of 21 medals.
In the 10m air pistol mixed team competition, Manu Bhaker & Sarabjot Singh easily defeated Varun Dubey & Vibhuti Bhatia of Delhi University by a score of 16-2 to win the gold medal. Prabh Pratap Singh Chahal & Parinaaz Dhaliwal’s victory in the mixed team skeet category was another gold medal won by Panjab University at the range. In the light-weight men’s double sculls, Panjab University stars Ravinder & Dinesh Kumar won gold medal, while Sonu Verma, Ajeeth, Sudarshan Lamba, & Gurpreet Singh achieved the same feat in the light-weight men’s fours.
