As chapter 87 of Kaiju No. 8 began, General Narumi was still landing hits on the mutating Kaiju No. 11. After that, Narumi began making correct predictions about No. 11’s actions, before warning that none of them would be effective. Narumi was able to defend against everything that No. 11 threw at him, causing even more harm to the monster.
Narumi thought back on his time with tutor Isao Shinomiya as No. 11 questioned what was going on. He lamented the fact that he had never been able to surpass or amaze Isao before Isao’s death. The scientists and Deputy Director Keiji Itami then reviewed the potentially lethal strain that Numbers Weapon #1 was placing on Narumi’s cranial nerves.

No. 11 wondered how Narumi was able to interpret information other than electrical impulses. Narumi continued by saying that this rule only held true when No. 1’s powers were the only ones in play and that he had assisted the Kaiju in developing this ability. Despite what seemed to be the decisive blow from Narumi on No. 11, the issue ended without certifying his win.
