According to unverified trend posts, Masood Azhar met his end in a bomb blast at 5 AM while returning from the Bhawalpur mosque in Pakistan. A viral video of the explosion accompanies these posts, circulating widely on social media. However, nothing has been officially confirmed as of now.
This development occurs amidst a series of attacks in Pakistan targeting terror operatives sought by India. Recently, ‘Unknown men’ and ‘poison’ also gained traction on social media, fueling rumors about the demise of another of India’s most wanted, Dawood Ibrahim.
Masood Azhar is wanted in India for his involvement in cases related to the 2001 Parliament attack.
He is implicated in various other attacks, including the targeting of the Ram Janambhoomi temple in Ayodhya on July 5, 2005, and the notorious Pulwama attack on CRPF troopers on February 14, 2019.
Additionally, he orchestrated an assault on the Indian Consulate in Mazar-e-Sharif in Balk, Afghanistan, on January 3, 2016. Azhar is also believed to have close ties with Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden and the Taliban founder, Mullah Omar.
In the past couple of months, nearly two dozen terrorists, including Abdul Salam Bhuttavi (deputy of Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafeez Saeed), Hardeep Singh Nijjar (based in Canada and leader of the banned Khalistan Tiger Force), Shahid Latif (close associate of Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Masood Azhar), and his brother Haris Hashim, have been killed in Pakistan and worldwide under mysterious circumstances.
The modus operandi involves unidentified assailants on vehicles, often motorcycles, firing multiple bullets into their targets.
Despite the arrest of three individuals in Nepal connected to the suspected ISI agent’s death, Pakistan’s security agencies have yet to identify or apprehend the perpetrators.
