The ICC U19 Women’s World Cup will begin its inaugural edition today, 14 January, with the first match between UAE vs Scotland and Australia vs Bangladesh.

Team India is set to begin their campaign against the hosts South Africa at the Willowmoore Park in Benoni.
The ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023
The much-awaited tournament was previously scheduled to begin way back in January 2021 and later pushed back to December 2021. However, it got further delayed due to the pandemic.
A long discussion was held between the ICC and other cricket boards, before reaching a final agreement. Following the discussion, ICC CEO Geoff Allardice confirmed that the event would take place in the early part of 2023.

Format
The ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 will feature a total of 16 teams. The 16 teams include 11 full ICC members and 5 associate countries. The teams will be divided into four groups each and each group will compete in a single round-robin format.
All of the teams will get to play three games each during the league stage. The top three sides from each group will then advance to the next stage, which is the Super Six Round.
From there, the 12 qualified teams will be divided into two groups with six members in each group. As the teams face off against one another, only the top two teams from both groups will move to the knockout stage.
The semi-finals round will then take place on the 27th of January. And finally, the final round will take place on the 29th of January at the Senwes Park, Potchefstroom.
Tournament host
South Africa will host the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup, which will consist of 41 matches across different venues.
