The English coach has revealed that the injury update of Jadon Sancho sees the player doubtful at the moment after having picked up a knock during training
England have been hit with worrying news ahead of their FIFA 2022 World Cup Qualifier against Hungary with coach Gareth Southgate revealing how Jadon Sancho had picked up an injury ahead of the match.
Gareth Southgate Provides Injury Update On Jadon Sancho Ahead Of England vs Hungary
Talking at his pre-match press conference today, Southgate opened up about the knock Sancho had picked up during a training session. Sancho had linked up with the English side at St George’s Park on Tuesday ensuing his side’s 1-0 against Wolverhampton at the weekend in the Premier League.
“We’ve got a small knock with Jadon this morning so we’re going to assess him. Everyone else is fine,” Southgate said.
While the coach didn’t provide any further details on the injury with an update awaited later tomorrow, Sancho does look unlikely to be risked. He’s hardly deployed by Sancho and with this being only a qualifier, England are set to move on without him.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin had previously withdrawn from the English setup owing to a toe injury, one he had returned to Everton to get treatment on. Barring these two players, Southgate is set to have a full squad to choose for as England look to record their fourth successive win in Group I.
The Ferench Puskas Arena will see the return of football after having been handed a two match ban owing to racial abuses from the supporters. However, with the ban only in place for UEFA tournaments, the FIFA World Cup qualifier is set to see a packed turnout.
